Chick Corea - Return To Forever
Miles student leading his first fusion collective
One of the most influential and recognisable keyboard players in jazz, Corea played with many of the greats, but his work, with Miles Davis on Filles De Kilimanjaro, In A Silent Way and Bitches Brew secured his reputation. This ECM release is a brilliant piece of work and was his first fusion collective, featuring Joe Farrell on soprano sax and flute, the Brazilian team of vocalist Flora Purim and drummer/ percussionist Airto Moreira, and electric bass player Stanley Clarke. The music effectively reflects the sleeve art: it’s light, free and almost spiritual without the rock bass that many of his contemporaries used.
