Nucleus Revisited: A
Tribute to Ian Carr
Pizza Express Jazz Club, London
30th March, 2007
View: table in front of the stage
Riffmeister Ian Carr has long been overlooked as the progenitor of British jazz-rock, so tonight’s show was a long overdue tribute to an inspired musician and composer, celebrating Carr’s greatest creation, Nucleus.
The haunting Lady Bountiful benefited from a lengthy acoustic piano solo which drew rapt attention and suitably appreciative applause, while the only non-Carr piece was Geoff Castle’s Solar Wind. Nucleus Revisited is undoubtedly one of the greatest jazz-rock bands around. Ian Carr, who was in the audience, must have been very proud.
