The band’s music and performance couldn’t be faulted, their take on pomp prog-rock note perfect, even if the setlist has become a little predictable. Kicking off with a new track, we were then treated to Back Street Kid with huge drums, before Out Of The Shadows. Thunder drummer Harry James was filling in nicely, as were the five new tracks between those from On A Story Teller’s Night. It would’ve been nice to have heard more like Back Street Kids and the excellent Vigilante, though, which were the only two songs from their Polydor era, while Kingdom Of Madness and The Spirit were almost the only representatives of the Jet days. Still, the crowd waved their arms, singer Bob Catley was animated, and Tony Clarkin’s guitar solos mixed intricacy with metal. A solo before Sacred Hour closed the set.
