Alabama 3
London Kentish Town Forum
14th May, 2010
View: stage-right
What other band mixes country & western, blues, techno, punk and rave, interweaved with radical political views? It can only be Alabama 3. Tonight, they’re in chic camouflage, flanked by flickering images of the Vietnam War. There are a few new faces and voices on stage, including the mighty voxed and glamorous, Aurora Dawn, the set showcasing their eighth album, Revolver Soul, with tracks including Keep Your Powder Dry, Vietnamistan and All God’s Children. The standouts, though, are older favourites, such as Too Sick To Pray, Mao Tse Tung Said and an outstanding Hypo Full Of Love. Their style, songs and the party atmosphere, along with their legendary aftershows, means everyone should catch them at least once.
