The Who In Denmark & Norway & Finland
by Kjell Malmberg & Olle Lunden

Eye-opening scrapbook from Scandinavian superfans

Endlessly schlepping across northern Europe between 1965 and 1972 to catch their favourite group in concert, Malmberg and Lunden excitedly hoarded every memento they could get their hands on. Newspaper cuttings, magazine covers, theatre bills, ticket stubs and press ads make up about half of this labour-of-love volume: an unashamed treasure trove to all things Who.

Don’t expect analytical insight, just wallow in the authors’ archives, augmented by a couple of hundred pictures taken by Scandinavian-based photographers who rarely syndicated their work worldwide (and, therefore, are in possession of tons of shots hardly seen outside their native land).

The layout is often shoddy, and a little more attention to chronology might have been welcome, but it’s hard not to be charmed by the sheer enthusiasm of this homemade project.
