Raw Power, passion and anarchic beauty characterised the arrival of Iggy & The Stooges, a primal force on their opening night, keen to reinforce their unique brand of high-octane musical angst. They practically tore up the auditorium with a full-on rendition of the album. Pop opened with a raucous Raw Power and inimitable Search And Destroy, before immersing himself in the audience for Your Pretty Face Is Going To Hell. His stage-diving was transcended by his invitation to fans to join him on-stage for a communal Shake Appeal, and guitarist James Williamson’s ferocious energy and soloing was paralleled by Iggy’s surreal persona. Further crowd-pleasers included Open Up And Bleed and Cock In My Pocket, while I Wanna Be Your Dog saw Iggy drop to the floor. Encores Fun House, Kill City and Johanna brought the house down.
