Buckcherry
Wolverhampton Wulfrun Hall
31st July, 2009
View: standing, halfway, stage-right
Following their appearance at Download, Buckcherry showcased their new album, due in September, but spared the crowd too much unfamiliar material. Instead, their highly enjoyable set was mostly drawn from their successful 15, as well as a cover of Deep Purple’s Highway Star, which seemed to baffle a lot of the audience. Some of the set was also spoiled by the sound, which was overly loud and distorted and made some numbers difficult to recognise immediately, though this didn’t affect the crowd’s response to their heroes. Predictably, Crazy Bitch ended the main show in a mass singalong, though this version was funky enough to edge into Chili Peppers territory.
