The EP Book:
Swedish Rock & Pop
Pressings 1954-
1969
by Roger Holegard
The alpha to omega of the Swedish EP
This newly-updated and expanded full colour hardback edition of The EP Book contains just about everything any selfr-especting vinyl hound needs to know about Swedish pressings of rock and pop EPs during the format’s golden years. Originally published in 1992 and long since out of print, the first edition has been a collectors’ item in its own right for some time, so much so that it’s even been known to command the kind of prices normally reserved for some of the vinyl treasures it so lovingly catalogues.
With the range of musical genres broadened to include country, hootenanny and skiffle – in addition to pop, rock, teenbeat and blues – more than 5,000 additonal EPs have been added to this deluxe new edition. Subdivided into three principal sections, International Artists, Scandinavian Artists and Various Artists, each of the EPs featured are listed alphabetically and rated on a valuation scale of one to 10 stars, based on rarity and collectability. Among the most valuable platters listed are EPs by Eddie Cochran, The Beatles, Big Bopper, Screamin’ Jay Hawkins and Bob Denton, with the daddy of them all being The Kinks’ 1964 Tired Of Waiting For You EP commanding an asking price of €700.
