Bernd Witthüsser - Lieder Von Vampiren, Nonnen Und Totten
Death with a smile
Originally released in 1970, some listeners, especially fans of Krautrock and all its variations, may be forgiven for wondering about the location of Witthüsser’s creative “other half”, Walter Westrupp. Doubly so, as this album is awash with his acoustic folk melodies – many of them poignant and evocative. In fact, this touching release devoted to vampires, death and… nuns, features Westrupp, unattributed in the background, making this early release the pair’s first recorded collaboration. The performance may feature dark themes but there are several dollops of black humour thrown in, giving the album a decidedly idiosyncratic flavour. This reissue is strictly limited to just 500 copies.
