Judas Priest,
Megadeth, Testament
Dublin O2 Arena
10th February, 2009
View: centre-left, balcony
The new-look Arena’s first metal date illustrated that all the money spent was not wasted. Testament last performed in Dublin 20-plus years ago, and they weren’t going through the motions with their metal mayhem. Megadeth, though, really prepared the ground for the Priest Feast, with their electric sound on classic tracks Symphony Of Destruction and Peace Sells. But it was Priest who set the venue alight with their pomp and ceremony. Their metal theatrics gave the rockstarved venue something to chant about. From the everpopular Breakin’ The Law to the grand opera of Messenger Of Death, Priest laid on a sumptuous banquet. The first night of their tour, they left little to be desired, and if it continues in this vein, it’ll be a pronounced success.
