Children Of Bodom - Trashed, Lost & Strung Out
Finnish boozehounds riffing, bellowing and falling over
Spinefarm’s Children Of Bodom reissue programme continues with this compilation of live and studio clips, alongside two more special edition CDs (this time Are You Dead Yet? and Stockholm Knockout Live). Originally released as a DVD EP in 2004, the content here is split into audio (four tracks) and video, including live stuff from the Tuska festival. The best value comes from the 20- minute documentary of Bodom enjoying a typical day and night out. Initially shot like a mockumentary, with the band discovering that all their gear has been stolen from their rehearsal room and begging for cash from their label, it soon descends into a drunken farce. Our heroes then drive to the frozen Lake Bodom in frontman Alexi Laiho’s beaten-up station wagon (after the success of the last five years, let’s hope he’s driving something a bit better now), where they throw snow at each other, drink some vile Finnish liquor and generally tit about. This continues via a band practice and ends up in the city centre, where they fight Christmas trees, sing traditional folk music and generally tit about some more… You get the picture. Highly amusing. The live tracks will reassure those new to the nutty world of COB that they’re actually a rather decent band.
