Apse - Eras
An album for pagans
Best described as experimental rock, Apse’s new album, limited to just 425 copies, is a record of moods. Ark is a brooding creation that rides along on primal bass and drum rhythms, accompanied by light melodic guitar lines that fit underneath a selection of ethereal vocalisations. The Gloom slows the pace down with a more introverted approach that introduces more vocal clarity which, while hardly a sing-a-long, offers just enough to enable the listener to hum along. Eras is ideal fodder for those times when you feel obliged to cover yourself in mud, stick twigs in your hair, prior to howling at the moon and frightening the neighbours.
