Anima Sound - Sturmischer Himmel
Structure? What structure?
Many consider Krautrock to be a pretty far out musical genre and the cult German label, Ohr, to be central to that movement. That said, even Ohr had to think twice about this release from the band which mixed free jazz radicalism and avant garde improvisations. The fact that this album, released in 1971, was recorded in a cottage that was reputedly 1,000 years old is just grist to the bizarre Anima mill that merges surprise with an attachment to spontaneity. Like a sky-diving squid, it finds its musical limbs flailing about, looking for a home. If you like the idea of a party going on inside your head, full of screams, mad drums, moans and odd sounds, than you’d be wise to invite along Anima Sound.
