Benny Hill - Sings Ernie The Fastest Milkman In The West

Chart toppin’ with Ernie and other favourites

Flashback to Christmas 1971 and a far off time when, incredibly, Benny Hill’s runaway novelty hit Ernie managed to keep T.Rex’s Jeepster off the No 1 slot for four weeks. Following this tale of Ernie’s fateful showdown with Two Ton Ted from Teddington, the tie-in LP released on Music For Pleasure offered a more complete voyeuristic peek into Hill’s saucy, old school comedy land.

The first side of the album was devoted to a selection of Hill’s trademark big production musical numbers, the pick of which are Broken Hearted Lovers Stew, The Beach At San Tropez, Suzy and The Dustbins Of Your Mind. The tracks on Side Two are, for the most part, regular comedy sketches complete with canned laughter, going some way to capturing the ambience of Hill TV shows. In addition, this reissue sports two bonus tracks. All you ever needed for a quick trip back to the golden age of British TV comedy is right here.
