Black Stone Cherry
Manchester Academy
5th December, 2008
View: standing, back, middle
Half-hour sets from Sevendust and Stone Gods set up Kentucky’s finest and they delivered a powerhouse set in support of their second opus, Folklore And Superstition. Despite persistent sound issues, they were mesmerising, burning through the excellent Blind Man and the like. Frontman guitarist/ singer Chris Robertson was truly captivating and enthusiastic. Their brand of Southern blues-tinged metal has grabbed the attention of a wide age group, and the quartet were ecstatic at upgrading since their last visit to the Academy 3. They’re easily one of the finest live bands out there.
