The Sugarcubes - Here Today, Tomorrow Next Week!
…And on your turntable for months to come
The Sugarcubes’ second album, released in 1989, is packed full of humour, satire and the warbling of Einar Benediktsson. Upon initial release, many believed that his contributions “got in the way” of Björk’s superb vocals, until Einar’s wacked-out philosophy gradually fermented to reveal not so much a trad rock band, but a circus act of avant-garde improv ideas. This reissue is the first in a whole raft of luxurious, limited edition vinyl reissues by the label, which has decided to release this work on 200gm virgin vinyl utilising DMM mastering. This system sees a groove cut directly to a copper plate instead of vinyl disc. The benefits are a tightening of the bass and a reduction of analogue hiss.
