Black Bonzo - Sound Of The Apocalypse

The Bonzo prog hoo-hah band

This heavy prog outfit from Sweden was created from the wreckage of The Gypsy Sons Of Magic. But the evolution hasn’t stopped there. This, their new second album, takes the initial Uriah Heep, early Queen bombast and matures it into something a whole lot more progressive and confident, adding a measure of introspection while bringing elements of Gentle Giant and King Crimson into the fold. The pick of the songs is the 13-minute title track, a glorious epic that, if anything, is too short. If you like your Hammond and Mellotron, take a gander at this lot.
