Felix Baloy - Baila Mi Son
Cuban legend sings with a smile
Baloy has been singing for over 40 years and was always known as a ‘sonero’ – an improvising lead singer in the slightly wild salsa style, ad libbing rhythmically, melodically and verbally against the refrain. Nowadays, and on this record, his is a more mature, yet still energetic, approach. Baloy has spent most of his time singing with those fellow Buena Vista Social Clublanders Ibrahim Ferrer, Omara Portuondo and Raul Planas, and you can tell that he’s learnt from the best. Here, he is backed by the arrangements of Juan de Marcos and the Afro Cuban All Stars.
