Experimental Products - Prototype Plus Garage Tracks

Not yet fully tested on anything but a warped mind

Based in Philadelphia, USA, this new wave synth-pop band released their debut album Prototype in 1982, plus two further EPs in 1984 and 1987. Independently released in limited numbers, that debut original has become highly collectable, fetching up to £1,000. Now cash-strapped fans can hear it in its original analogue glory, complete with bonus cuts, as a double-vinyl issue. It will be of interest to all minimalist electronica fans, while tracks such as The Addict and Streetwalk offer enough melodic pop tones to keep you hooked, via a slice of glossy, early Depeche Mode styling. That said, there’s also enough cold-wave edge to keep things interesting enough to please the early Ultravox supporters.
