What better way to spend Valentine’s than a night with Sheryl? So pleased was she with the 90-minute show promoting her latest Detours, that everyone was invited back to The Landmark Hotel afterparty! But the party was really among the sextet and two backing singers on stage. Kicking off with the joyous acoustic God Bless This Mess, the songstress captivated with her dazzling smile and vocals. Among the many highlights were a summery, clap-along Love Is Free, the insatiable Leaving Las Vegas, and smoochy Diamond Ring. New additions to the canon like the funky Now That You’ve Gone stood up to scrutiny, as did the Steeler’s Wheel-like Gasoline, feisty Strong Enough and calypso-edged Out Of Our Heads. Old faves included a singalong My Favourite Mistake, Sheryl on electric for a rousing If It Makes You Happy, and the bottle-slide of Every Day Is A Winding Road. A three-song encore featured the shimmying Soak Up The Sun and ecstatic All I Wanna Do. We did have fun!
