Geordie - Don’t be Fooled By The Name
More depth than a “glam” labelling would suggest
Although only on their second album in 1974, Geordie had a convincing coherence to their work that stands up well today. They understood what they could do well, and concentrated on recording a well-produced album that included a very decent cover of House Of the Rising Sun and strong originals from guitarist Vic Malcolm, such as Goin’ Down, which is rooted in St James’ Infirmary. The production is clean and assured throughout and gives the band a fine chance to shine, with singer Brian Johnson equally the best of the rock world, especially on Ten Feet Tall. This reissue adds two bonus tracks, I Can’t Forget You Now and I Can’t Give You Up, which were issued as a more overtly commercial and laidback Brian Johnson solo single in 1976.
