Iron Maiden - Live After Death
A glorious reminder of a glorious time
There was a time, around 1984/85, where Iron Maiden were truly poised on the edge of worldwide greatness. Following on from the breakthrough albums Number Of The Beast and Piece Of Mind, the group’s status as heavy metal icons was well on the way to being secured. Incredibly, they reached even greater heights with the live album Live After Death, recorded over several nights at Long Beach Arena in California and presented in all its glory here, complete with original concert audio, the original stereo soundtrack and a new 5.1 mix.
Previously released as a video in 1985, Live After Death remains one of the best live albums – and videos – of all time. But this being an official Maiden release, it doesn’t end there. Disc Two has part two of the enlightening, and often hilarious, History Of Iron Maiden, all the main protagonists talking through some vintage footage and gleefully recalling the highs and lows of the tour and the band’s 1985 studio album Powerslave. Not only that, but add in the great Behind The Iron Curtain feature and a vintage performance at Rock In Rio 1985, plus an interview with Steve Harris and Bruce from The Alamo and a host of artwork, photo galleries and promo videos, and you have a remarkable band at the height of their powers, presented with skill and respect in one glorious package.
