Louise Huebner - Seduction Through Witchcraft
Early self-help LP – from a witch
This largely spoken word release from 1969 was created by the US-based Huebner, a bona fide and media-savvy sixth-generation witch. Much of the advice given here, via Huebner’s treated vocalisations, revolves around sex and love (Orgies – A Tool For Witchcraft) but also life empowerment (The Self Fascination Ritual For Increased Power), which gives this limited reissue a sense of being an early self-help recording. Listening to it, you’d also be forgiven for believing that it’s an archive psych release. In fact, Gong fans will love it. Featuring Moog-supported warblings, it’s truly an oddity, but one that you can meditate to with the lights off. Finally, Rhino plays the audiophile card with plenty of talk about “premium virgin vinyl” etc, yet it packages the LP in a rough paper, die-cut inner sleeve which will damage your wax over time. Replace it with a plastic coated inner.
