Flamborough Head - Live In Budapest
Dutch prog quintet’s 10-tracker
Recorded in February 2007, this collection of live cuts from their last three studio albums sees singer/flautist Margriet Boomsa, guitarist Eddie Mulder et al on typically sweet form, their lengthy instrumental works interspersed with flighty vocals, flute and Mellotronic atmospheres redolent of early Camel or latter-day Flower Kings.
Opener Russian Roulette is one of a number of majestic Floydian moments, but the likes of Maureen, with its Curved Air eloquence, are more the ticket. Silent Stranger shifts tempo and the closing Garden Of Dreams is as near as Flamborough get to rock crescendo; the waters in their neck of the woods are mainly still.
