View: in the thick of it

Storming on with Sick, Sick, Sick (a song with possibly the dirtiest riff of the past decade), QOTSA barely paused for breath as they roared through a set comprising a good chunk of latest album Era Vulgaris, with older favourites from across their entire catalogue including Avon, Infinity, Burn The Witch, Little Sister, and their biggest hit, No-One Knows. The band looked to be having a great time, Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen pummelling the audience with powerful riffs and Joey Castillo providing thudding drum fills, and depth via Michael Shuman’s bass and Dean Fertita’s keys. The pace rarely let up, only slowing for the rarely-played classic, In The Fade, and new single Make It Wit’chu, before a final, extended version of Feel Good Hit Of The Summer. They soon swaggered back, though, tearing into a raucous encore of Millionaire, Go With The Flow and A Song For The Dead.
