Mind Over Matter 4: The Images Of Pink Floyd
by Storm Thorgerson & Peter Curzon

Some of the best artwork ever, for some of the best music. Fact.

With a catalogue of artwork to match the renown of Pink Floyd’s music, it’s of little surprise that the Floyd’s concept artist Storm Thorgerson finds himself as lauded as the band itself. Here, in a fourth edition released to coincide with the band’s 40th anniversary, we’re afforded more than a few minutes to celebrate the iconic images that have coupled some of the quintessential releases of the past decade.

Boasting some 250-plus pages, this hardback doesn’t offer much for fans already in possession of previous editions, but does put itself forward as the most comprehensive look at the Floyd’s iconic artwork yet. From the earliest workings of Piper At The Gates Of Dawn through the most recent DVD poster and reissue artworks, there’s not a period in the Floyd’s history that goes unillustrated.

With every work reflected upon by Thorgerson himself, the balance between coffee-table art book and a truly insightful read is balanced neatly, although, if minor complaints are to be heard, insights from the band that benefited so heavily from Thorgerson’s work would have been welcomed. Regardless, Mind Over Matter 4 is the most complete package of music artwork around, whether Pink Floyd form the basis of your interest or not.
