Tom Jones
Dublin Point

An introductory video announces that ‘The Voice’ has been located, to the rapturous delight of a diverse audience. Tom Jones’ vocal talents are impressive, but it’s his ability to combine the kitsch with the genuine that proves he is the ultimate entertainer. He challenges too, with far more than a simple greatest hits. Tonight, we had tracks from Jerry Lee Lewis and Howlin’ Wolf, The Body Rockers and Hoobastank. The packed Point revelled in the Welshman’s talent and humour, gangs of women throwing Bridget Jones-style knickers at the Sexbomb. Highlights included Green Green Grass Of Home, Delilah and the encore, Kiss. His voice shone too on The Reason and Grandma’s Hands, while his tightrope act between legend and sleazy old-timer was pulled off with tongue firmly in cheek on I Like The Way (You Move) and She’s A Lady. Everyone came to be entertained, and no one left disappointed.
