The Who - Tommy (Vinyl)
A listenable vinyl at last!
Pete Townshend’s masterpiece and his nemesis, Tommy is the most famous and, arguably, the first, rock opera. But, until now, the original US Decca release was the only decent vinyl recording. Here, though, Classic has produced a superbly mastered gem which will satisfy all audiophiles. The cut, taken from the original masters, is clear, crisp, deathly quiet where it should be and dynamically brilliant at all other times. Separation of all instruments is excellent, and subtle instrumental details can be discerned for the first time. The packaging is brilliant too, featuring the complicated tri-fold laminated sleeve, including the original booklet. This is not only the best vinyl version there has ever been, it is the best version of Tommy on any format. Fact.
