Ennio Morricone - Chi L’ha Vista Morire

Choir fun with Ennio

In the endless reissues of Ennio Morricone’s soundtrack work, Fin de Siècle presents Chi L’ha Vista Morire (probably better known on these shores as Who Saw Her Die). This obscure 1972 whodunit flick about the murder of a young girl by a psychopath benefits well from Morricone’s choir music. Roughly divided into three sections: childhood (angelic choirs), helplessness and loss (where the choirs become increasingly frantic, uncanny and eerie), this 30-minute score will definitely appeal to Morricone’s fans. The music starts off innocently enough, with almost traditional choir singing, but it soon develops into a schizophrenic and musically more appealing listen. In Morricone’s oeuvre, this is a remarkable, but also rather unspectacular, piece of work (much like the film itself, despite the fact that it features George Lazenby and Anita Strindberg). Restored from the original masters and packed in a good-looking digipack, this is a welcome addition to the long line of Morricone reissues.
