Blind Boy Fuller - Complete Recorded Works In Chronological Order Volumes 1-6
There’s nothing more Fuller
Fuller was one of the most important and influential blues artists of all time. With a mean guitar style and fine singing voice, he could play just about any blues style pushed in front of him. Not only that, he was critical in introducing other blues artists to the studio. This Document reissue is significant because it lays all of Fuller’s work bare, from 23 September 1935 to 19 June 1940. This includes work for ARC and Decca, recordings with Sonny Terry, and alternative and unissued takes. Fans of Robert Johnson should grab this immediately. Like Johnson, Fuller matured as a recording artist in the 20s, and could mix all blues styles to create unique tools of his own, taking material from his own folk tradition as well as other recorded sources. Also like Johnson, however, Fuller lived fast and died young, aged just 33. What he left behind constitutes a superb blues tour de force.
