Brigitte Bardot - Sings (Vinyl)

Much bigger than a double-B, keep out of reach of children

The original 1963 LP was released with a choice of a standard sleeve and deluxe gatefold edition with a poster. This reissue was going to reproduce that gatefold, but in the end Lillith decided to drop that idea and run with the simple sleeve, because of the “controversial images” in the gatefold. Nice to see that even now, Bardot shocks. Originally released as Brigitte Bardot, before being renamed for the US market an given a new cover shot, Sings sees the first Bardot and Serge Gainsbourg connection, a dance/pop song from Gainsbourg called L’Appareil À Sous. You’ll either love or hate her naïve vocals, but on this album Bardot’s unique phrasing roams between classic French projection to the then popular Yé-Yé style. One for fans of Bardot, Gainsbourg and French pop in general.
