The Rolling Stones
Slane Castle, Co Meath
18th August, 2007

The Rolling Stones played Slane Castle for the first time since 1982, and this time we were wrapped up like North Sea fishermen against the squally showers. Still, they strolled on at nine to an explosion of fireworks, dazzling screens and light beams, ripping through the cold night with the chainsaw buzz of Keith Richard’s chords. He and Mick Jagger moved about the stage offering a forceful, trenchant delivery. Ron Wood complemented the fiery leads and bottleneck on new songs like Rough Justice, and oldies like Honky Tonk Women, Satisfaction, Sympathy For The Devil, Paint It Black and It’s Only Rock And Roll. Charlie Watts was a locomotive on Brown Sugar, Start Me Up and Tumbling Dice. The performance ended with more fireworks, leaving treasured memories of the legendary band.
