David Gilmour - Remember That Night: Live At The Royal Albert Hall
Floyd man in all his finery
Available as a 314-minute 2-DVD, HD-DVD and blu-ray package, this 5.1 Surround Sound set sees Pink Floyd’s guitarist/singer in the RAH, where, in 2006, he held a short residency captured on film by David Malet. The results are sonically and visually impressive, as is the set and list of collaborators. Disc One kicks off with Floyd classics Speak To Me, Breathe and Time, rendered in precise and spell-binding form, supplemented by eye-catching images. The new material from On An Island sees bows from Crosby & Nash, while Then I Close My Eyes is graced by Robert Wyatt. C&N return for a couple of tunes in the 23-song set, notably a stratospheric Shine On You Crazy Diamond, while David Bowie’s appearance on another night for Arnold Layne and the closing Comfortably Numb are sumptuously grand. Disc Two adds a handful of tunes (with some repetition), with Floyd keyboardist Richard Wright guesting on three, as well as three documentaries on the making of Gilmour’s latest album, touring and behind the scenes. Eight further live tracks include an Abbey Road rendition of Astronomy Domine, while there are two promo clips, a bonus jam, photo gallery and 20-page booklet.
