The British Blues All Stars - At Notodden Blues Festival
Blues, British, live and in the studio
Ad hoc arrangements of illustrious musicians are almost always better experienced live than relived through recordings. The British Blues All Stars, however, are not just a jam session, but a combination of veterans who bound out of the speakers determined to impress. Peter Green’s presence on this 2005 set (he sings just one song, Black Magic Woman, and croakily at that), will inspire most interest, but fans of Savoy Brown’s Kim Simmonds, the Blues Band’s Tom McGuinness and Gary Fletcher and the late Long John Baldry will also be interested. RC’s pick is keyboardist/bandleader Bob Hall, outstanding on Pine Top’s Boogie Woogie and supportive throughout.
