Terry Reid

View: up front

It remains a source of eternal mystery why a singer of such immense talent should remain relatively unknown in his own country. Reid’s vocal gifts and songwriting skills have, however, long been recognised by his peers. Accompanied by a bassist/ keyboard player, Reid began by working his way into Without Expression, and his unique blend of blues, jazz and folk immediately caught the attention. Changing acoustic guitars at regular intervals to accommodate specific tunings, he treated us to One Night With You, Mayfly, and his classic Rich Kid Blues, in addition to a radically re-invented version of Brian Wilson’s Don’t Worry Baby. Reid’s banter is entertaining if haphazard, and his encore was the wellchosen Seed Of Memory. Don’t miss him.
