The Hollies - The Dutch Collection

Surely not another Hollies greatest hits?

Well, yes, but this one is different. Alongside a superb 22-track CD of the Manchester lads’ finest, you have a stunning 33-track DVD. With an impressive running time of 168 minutes, it’s the band’s very first officially-compiled film and video timeline.

Kicking off with the fresh-faced lads delivering Just One Look on Top Of The Pops in 1964, it continues through performances of Look Through Any Window (shot live in Holland in 1966) and Stop Stop Stop (set to footage of the band larking around in a pub for Swedish Television) to name a few. The rarely-seen Carrie Anne and Listen To Me promo films are also featured.

The colour footage coincides with the Graham Nash-less era. Here archive delights include He Ain’t Heavy, He’s My Brother from a November 1969 edition of ATV’s This Is Tom Jones and The Air That I Breathe from a 1974 edition of LWT’s Russell Harty Plus. Extras include an interesting 1964 Dutch TV interview with Nash, who later teams up with his former colleagues in 1981 for a Top Of The Pops performance of their greatest hits medley, Holliedaze. With perfect picture and sound quality, and a highly-informative, fully-illustrated 12-page booklet, this is essential for any true Hollies aficionado.
