MADONNA MEGABUCKS
I was the nutter who forked out £1,320 for the Madonna - Lucky Star ‘Sunglasses’ 7” (pictured below) as featured in the eBay-O-Meter of April’s top bids (RC 337). It’s probably the only time in my life I will make the No 1 spot in anything!
There was actually another copy of the record which sold on April 1 (!). This item, which wasn’t even in Mint condition by the look of the picture, went for the even more astronomical sum of £1,850 after 42 bids! (item number 180099021676). Surely it must be one of the most expensive singles ever to sell on Ebay? It was a genuine sale as both buyer and seller left positive feedback for each other.
To add to the fun, yet another copy of the ‘sunglasses’ Lucky Star 7” appeared a short while after I bought my copy. To use the old adage about buses, you wait ages for one and then three come along at once! I can only presume the latter two were put up for sale after their owners’ respective jaws hit the floor on seeing what the first item sold for! This third copy sold for £1,150.
