HAND THAT ROCKS THE CRADLE
Great to see my article on The Smiths (RC363) but can I please make one important clarification: in the section on the unreleased first LP, the two images shown in the article (p42) are sleeves from two of the best known bootlegs. They are certainly NOT images chosen by Morrissey for this release. The last thing I would like to see is someone shelling out a lot of money for one of these bootlegs that do appear on the internet from time to time.
Also, I loved John Reed’s article on 2-Tone (John’s one of my all-time favourite RC contributors), however, whilst he is absolutely spot-on with respect to 2-Tone being championed by teenagers on the playground, I would argue that it extended much further than that. I was eight years old at the time of 2-Tone, and I tell no lie, me and my fellow 8-year old Essex Rude Boys loved it all. The main topic of conversation for us on the playground wasn’t just Star Wars figures, it was The Jam and 2-Tone! Believe me it’s true!
