BEATLES FESTIVAL
I am baffled by the edit to my piece on the Beatles auction at the Merseybeat Convention (RC 342) which seems to have me referring to a Beatles’ single called Sometimes. Now that would be an expensive item! What I actually wrote was: “An autographed single of Love Me Do made £12,400. Sometimes, George Harrison gave his autograph and added the names of the other Beatles, and such items fetched around £1,000. Curiously, George’s mum sometimes signed for all four Beatles: it strains credulity that she should do this and even more that the artificial signatures could raise £200. “ Incidentally, the excellent pictures were taken by Jane Enenko.
