BOLANOLOGY

I was surprised to note in George Rab’s piece on Marc Bolan Acetates (RC 341) that he missed-out the first acetate which came to fans’ attention, the one-sided Toby Tyler The Road I’m On (Gloria). Originally June Bolan’s, she gave it to psych-pop guru Paul Roland who held onto it for a decade, never letting it be heard, before I bought it and released it on my Archive Jive Records. The double-sided acetate referred to is, as far as I am aware, still in the hands of a PR company, probably offsetting tax in some way. Both tracks were made available alongside numerous other session takes (on Archive Jive), after the Master Tape was rescued from a skip outside a studio that was being closed down!
