JOAN JETT talks to TERRY STAUNTON on the making of The Runaways’ movie, and life after the band split.
You’re credited as executive producer of The Runaways, which is often little more than a courtesy or vanity title, but weren’t you more handson during the film’s production?
Myself and Cherie Curie were involved right from the beginning, deciding on what story the film should tell, so our rememberances were very important. We had to get all the girls into rehearsals with instruments to make sure they’d look convincing on screen. Kristen was totally committed. I could sense her staring at me the whole time, which normally would be weird, but I knew she was studying my mannerisms, my posture, the way I walked.
She’d been listening to all …
