200 rarest uk albums
SORRY - SOLD OUT!
Prices for rare records are like shares in the stock market – values can go up or down. But while the stock market of late has taken a turn for the worse, prices of rare records have gone through the roof. Collectors are willing to pay huge sums for rare releases that come to market in Mint condition.
In the past we have listed the Top 100 or 250 collectables across the board. Now, for the first time, we’ve listed the 200 rarest Albums, lifted fresh from our bible of record collecting, the 2010 edition of the Rare Record Price Guide.
From Pink Floyd’s debut LP, one-off Marc Bolan acetates, cool jazz rarities, folk private pressings, to some of the most wanted albums from the psychedelic period, they are all here. As for the 60s, The Beatles rule supreme, and it’s this decade that contributes more entries than any other.
Of course, these are guide prices, and collectors are sometimes willing to pay much more online or, if they are lucky, much less, at a record fair or car boot sale! But with the entry level starting at £300, none of these records are cheap. In fact, the entire Top 200 would set you back in the region of £140,000. Just over a week’s wages for a Chelsea footballer.
