As excitement mounts for their reunion show, Dave Lewis rounds up 50 rarities ranging in value from £10 to £6,000!

Following their decision to reform for one night only at the Ahmet Ertegun tribute show at the O2 Arena, interest in Led Zeppelin has been at a level reminiscent of their 1970s peak.

So this is as good a time as any to round up an overview of some of the most sought after Zeppelin collectable items from around the world. the following is a listing of rare lPs singles and cDs that have surfaced throughout the band’s near 40 years of dominance as the number one rock act of all time.

Zep manager Peter Grant’s iron rule ensured the band presented themselves as they dictated, with few tV appearances, a ‘no UK singles’ rule and complete control over album artwork.

Somewhat ironically, it was the attempts of the various atlantic Records subsidiary labels to thwart that power that resulted in the host of rare pressings, promo singles, and alternate lP sleeve designs that surfaced during their career.

While this list does not claim to contain all the highly priced rare worldwide lP and single issues (see Rc 306 for the latter), it offers a comprehensive summary of the most notable promo and collectable Zep related rarities with relevant commentary on their standing in the Zep collector world.
