Fifty nifty rarities from the Harvest era by Joe Geesin

One of Britain’s best known, best loved and certainly one of the world’s most successful and collectable bands, Pink Floyd are a British institution; as the huge interest in their reformation for Live8 proves.

With classics and million-sellers such as The Wall and Dark Side Of The Moon issued on Harvest, the label forms an important part of the band’s history, with a plethora of world-wide variations of labels, sleeves and test pressings keeping fans and collectors more than busy.

This list of Top 50 collectable singles comes from the collection of Herve Denoyelle, one of the world’s top authorities on Pink Floyd. This selection only features the band’s output on the Harvest label, where the Harvest logo appears on the label, sleeve or both. So we’ve omitted releases on Columbia (where the band’s early promo singles in picture sleeves can fetch £2000 or more), Odeon (used in Japan, where many promos came on red vinyl) and CBS/Sony. But even with those promo singles and territories such as Japan, USA, South America et al excluded, we are still presented with a mouth-watering selection.

It’s worth noting that See Emily Play, Arnold Layne and Point Me At The Sky, all originally Columbia releases, were reissued on Harvest in various countries, while Italy reissued Point Me At The …
