John Lennon Worldwide Rarities On 45.
J ohn Lennon – gifted child, lazy student, leather-clad rocker, sublime pop star, drug crazed hippie, flawed genius, weirdo peace-nik, political activist, hard-drinking womaniser, devoted father, absent father, spokesman for a generation, eccentric recluse, murdered celebrity, true saint, and sinner.
Whatever bag you try and put him in, the man will always be contrary to it. Around this time of year, with two major anniversaries of John Lennon’s life - the 65th Anniversary of his birth and 25th anniversary of his death – book shops will be overloaded with biographies claiming to reveal the real personality behind the granny glasses.
Whatever the agenda for such analysis, be it from ex-wives, girlfriends, relatives or even those who never actually met him, the one aspect that always seems to be overlooked is John Lennon: musician/ songwriter. The music and compositions that he left behind are the real reason why Lennon is still revered so much, a quarter of a century after his last recording. True, the different characteristics that made up his personality resulted in the qualities required to come up with such a variety of music and song.
