As their eight albums are remastered and reissued, STEVE GAYLER takes a detailed look at the 25-year story of Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart

Since Eurythmics were last featured in RC in 1992, Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox have gone on to become the best-selling UK duo of all time. They are also in the Top 20 of best selling UK artists, and between them have almost won more Brit awards than any other artist. As Eurythmics and solo artists, Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox have a recording career spanning over 30 albums, and early 2006 sees the 25th anniversary of their first Eurythmics release.

More recently, Annie Lennox has become known for her solo work, and is fast becoming a spokes- person for a number of key charities, her popularity being bolstered by appearances at Live8 in both London and Edinburgh, and the Nelson Mandela 46664 series of AIDS awareness concerts.

Dave Stewart, one of the founders of 46664, is also involved in charitable projects and last year emigrated to LA where, after recovering from a serious illness, he now heads a new record label (Weapons Of Mass Entertainment), part of Interscope and owned by former Eurythmics producer Jimmy Iovine. As well as working in the film industry he still finds time to write, produce and perform with a huge number of artists (Anastacia, tATu, Abdel Wright, Mudbone Cooper, Davey Brothers to name a few recent projects).

Both Dave and Annie were rewarded separately last year with top awards from the film industry – a Golden Globe …
