The Who – See Me, Feel Me

Worldwide Rarities Compiled by leading Who collector Rich Weiner

My love for The Who’s music has led me to own the world’s largest collection of Who records and CDs. What began with just a cassette of Who Are You in 1978 (then expanding to 17 LPs in 1982) has grown to over 3300 Who records, CDs, singles and over 700 pieces of memorabilia (posters, books, magazines, videos, etc).

I started with a desire to capture all of the band’s released songs and continued from there, discovering better sound quality from different pressings (ie the Japanese Quadrophenia LP sounds much better than its USA counterpart). Finally, after having so much, it has broken down to collecting pretty picture sleeves. At some point I began just filling gaps to be a completist (country-by-country). When you get to the point where you think you have just about everything there is, something different usually shows up and the fun begins all over again.

I began collecting by searching the record stores and local record fairs, as well as getting some records through mail order. Unfortunately, most of these sources have dried up over the years and today it’s a combination of being a good bidder on eBay, as well as traveling to the great European record fairs to find the remaining rarities.
